Living in a Two Faced World: Character Review and Thoughts

Having an ugly, despicable, grotesque kind countenance speaks more truth than a damned, twisted soul dressed in beauty....

Those words basically sum up the entire aftermath feeling I go through once I've come to the last page of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by R.L.Stevenson. It reminds me so much of epic characters like Gollum/Smeagol, Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Grey, and  Edgar Allan Poe's characters, etc. who lived double lives to shush up their considerably selfish, twisted souls.

Most people call Hyde and Jekyll's case schizophrenia but I don't think anyone could sum up that experience to a mere biological disease. His shifts in countenance was more dug down deep towards his soul.

I don't why I have this kind of soft inclination towards characters that go through torment because their two personalities seem to clash inside their head.  And it's not that I feel kind of sympathetic for Mr. Hyde, the grotesque alter ego of Dr. Jekyll but at least what he was as soul and mind was exactly how he did appear before the public. Somehow, he need not speak to show that damnable mind of his; unlike Dr. Jekyll or most heroes who bore both good and evil within them trying to suppress the  the dark shades of their souls.

The world has so much set their ideals on good and evil based on appearances and actions leading to the increasing breed of hypocrites that exchange fake smiles and lies everyday. You cannot trust anyone these days not even yourself. Because humanly speaking, we are by nature inclined to the Devil. Be honest, we are more likely to get excited about doing something wicked or rebellious than sitting around and being angelic about our whole being.    We long to run wild, do whatever we want, and let alone all the people who torment our being us. However, there are rules we must obey, duties to perform so we dance away our days pretending we are the right crop of minds.

Well, whatever, I guess there's nothing wrong with meeting what is expected of us except that we should be fully reconciled with our two halves to agree on executing a task that way we do not hurt people nor we stab our other half for being such a coward not to consider him/her.

In simple terms it's a matter of honesty to both your vices and virtues.
